Wanderlust Festival Speakeasy Lectures

In 2010, Wanderlust launched the Speakeasy - a casual lecture series on subjects pertaining to the mindful life. The Speakeasy was meant to be just that --- an experience where people could "speak easily." Not meant to be a stuffy lecture, the Speakeasy is about lounging on pillows sipping tea and kombucha and letting ideas flow through.

File 4945The Speakeasy was blessed to have an amazing line-up in its first year including talks from Moby, Mariel Hemingway, Adrian Grenier, John Friend, Chris Sacca, Shiva Rea and many others. We hope to make the Speakeasy a pillar of Wanderlust in the future bringing in inspiring speakers and subjects.

Speakeasy producer, Karina MacKenzie, has edited all of the 2010 Speakeasy talks and we're excited to be releasing them over the course of the coming months. We thought it would be most appropriate to debut 2010's talks with Moby's Speakeasy: Why I Am a Vegan. Moby played a huge part in our 2010 event with a raging DJ set, a beautiful afternoon acoustic show and a great lecture.

We are extremely grateful to Evol Burritos - the maker of fine organic burritos - for their support in making the Speakeasy possible. We are also in debt to our moderator --- the hostess with the mostess -- Kaitlin Quistgaard. Kaitlin is an inspiration in mindful living - balancing motherhood, yoga, and numerous career endeavors --- like the small task of being editor-in-chief of Yoga Journal. Kaitlin manages to juggle so many things and be utterly present at all times. We are grateful to Yoga Journal for lending her out for the weekend to moderate the Speakeasy in 2010.

We leave you below with the first of many filmed Speakeasy lectures to be released. Check out Moby as he speaks and answers questions in an open forum about animal cruelty and veganism.
